The Collector Cooperative is a community where art, culture, and visual activism come together to support the future of Magnum Photos and the continuation of its legacy and relevance. With their contribution, the members support independent, diverse, and engaged visual documentary work while also growing their art collection with unique objects created by Magnum photographers and special editions of the resulting publications.

A Community of Creators

At Magnum Photos, we understand the importance of the collective. It has been our modus operandi since our conception in 1947. Today, we want to open the door to our supporters by building a community of 500 collectors where their participation and dialogue will actively make a difference. 

Being a member of the Collector Cooperative means belonging to a community of committed collectors who support and contribute to the creation of meaningful, engaged, and necessary visual documentary pieces in all the richness of Magnum Photos´ diverse voices. It is also a unique way to enrich your art collection (or start it) by adding limited-edition objects created by the agency in collaboration with its photographers.

In times when reality and fiction are blending to create a general gray zone, the audience needs to be proactive in verifying both their sources and their own perceptions. 

Now that nothing should be taken for granted, high-quality visual reporting plays a critical role in ensuring the reliability of records in these uncertain times. Yet, the media industry, previously responsible for that task, is shrinking at an unprecedented pace.

Magnum Photos, with its archive and legacy, stands as a lighthouse in the midst of this visual confusion, and by supporting the creation of independent and reliable reporting, you will be contributing to the records from which history is written.

A Cooperative

Joining the Magnum Photos Collector Cooperative means becoming an integral part of the agency’s future. Your membership supports our legacy, which in turn, bolsters the creation of new work and enriches your collection.

As a member of the cooperative, you will participate in the process of discussing and selecting the annual theme for the Magnum Chronicle: an annual photojournalistic magazine that documents and reflects on contemporary issues around the world. Both with new production and in dialogue with our archive, the Magnum Chronicle is a platform to distribute in-depth stories that are harder to find in the mainstream media. 

You will also be invited to attend the exclusive Collector Cooperative annual gathering, and meet the photographers, the Magnum team, and your fellow club members.
