A woman of many sides, Sophia Loren overcame a disadvantaged upbringing in post-war Naples to become globally recognized as Italy’s most beautiful woman as well as its most famous actress. In this intimate portrait taken by Burt Glinn, Loren appears as though in stop-motion, her image reflected between a series of mirrors.

Burt Glinn became an associate member of Magnum in 1951, along with Eve Arnold and Dennis Stock, before becoming a full member in 1954. He served as Magnum’s president twice.
